Munara is an Uyghur-Canadian Writer + Filmmaker.

Hi, I’m Munara! An avid reader and cinephile since childhood, I have a deep love for storytelling and the entertainment industry.

As an emerging writer and director, I’m especially drawn to female-centric stories; narratives that explore the strength of the human spirit, unravel the tangled threads of relationships, and explore themes of social class, gender, and diaspora. I also have an affinity for anything Magical Realism and Gothic.

I’m currently working as a production manager for scripted TV at Lionsgate Canada. As a Jr. production executive, I navigate the moving parts of production with a focus on creative alignment, strategic execution, and a collaborative, people-first approach.
