Hi, I’m Munara! A Uyghur-Canadian Writer, Director, + Producer.

As a filmmaker, I tell women-centred stories about choice, ambition, and transformation, within systems of class and the diasporic experience. I’m drawn to folkloric, Gothic, and magical realism storytelling traditions, where the past shapes the present, environments exert pressure on behaviour, and the duality of self is explored.

I’m currently working as the Production Manager for scripted television at Lionsgate Canada. As a TV producer, I navigate the many moving parts of production with a focus on protecting creative intent, championing diversity, and fostering strong, collaborative relationships across teams.
